Laura Duncan, MPT
Masters Physical Therapy
Laura was encouraged by her family to choose a career path that she loved and would bring others joy. So she started out pursuing a dance career as well as an education for a job with monetary benefits. As an aerobic instructor, she was intrigued with the lack of knowledge people had regarding their own body awareness, movement, coordination and general health. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Nevada Las Vegas in 1996, followed by a Masters in Physical Therapy from Chapman University in 1999. Since becoming a licensed Physical Therapist in California in 2000, Laura has been devoted to empowering individuals to regain their active lifestyles. Her commitment to continuous learning led her to become BASI Pilates Certified in 2000, enriching her therapeutic approach.
Throughout her career, Laura has been actively involved in educating and training others in Pilates. She conducted in-services for various institutions, including Cedar Siani and Western University, and initiated Pilates programs for outpatient rehab facilities in Orange County and Missoula, Montana. Her expertise has been recognized on an international level, as she served as a guest speaker for the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science conference.
Laura enjoys volunteering at her local church and is a teacher for Christian Release Education. She is a member of the Orange Community Master Chorale and serves on the Greater Orange Community Arts Theater fundraising committee. She continues to take piano and dance lessons and enjoys outdoor recreation sports. Because she loves movement, she enjoys treating all injuries and getting people back to work, sports, recreation, and daily life.
